Configuration Files

• /etc/make.conf – This is the configuration file for Portage. This is where use flags, compiler optimizations, and mirrors go.

• /etc/conf.d/ - Gentoo stores all the startup configuration files in this directory (like net.eth0, local.start/stop, sysklogd) in case you want to add any startup parameters.
