3rd SLUG Robocode Tournament

Place: CS Seminar Room, SJ Carew building, MUN

Requirements
  1. All robots must work with Robocode v1.0.6 and JRE v1.3 and above. could be named "JD_Killer")
  2. Players should bring their robot .class file(s) with them to the tournament, or email an attachment to slug@cs.mun.ca ahead of time.

Rules
  1. Robot code must be your own. Competitors are allowed to use other robot strategies, but must implement the code themselves. This will be based on the "honour system".
  2. Competitors may enter into more than one event, but only one robot may be submitted per event. In the case of team events, only one team may be entered. Please notify tournament coordinators ahead of time if you wish to use a different robot in the Free-For-All event than the one in the One-on-One event.
  3. One-on-one events will take place on a 800x600 battlefield. Team events will take place on a 1000x1000 battlefield. Free-for-all events will take place on a 2000x2000 battlefield.
  4. Competitors will face off for the One-on-one and Team battles in tournament "tree"-style. The tournament "tree" will be determined, randomly, at the event.
  5. One-on-one and team battles will last for 3 rounds. The Free-For-All battle will last 5 rounds. The winner is the person whose robot has the overall highest score.
  6. Teams may consist of up to and including five robots.
  7. Entrants into the team event may also team up in designing robots for the same team. However, the spoils of victory will be shared.

Events
  • One-on-one -- competitors pair up for battle against each other. The winners of each battle move ahead to compete with new opponents, and the losers are eliminated. An ultimate victor will emerge!
  • Free-for-all -- all competitors enter the battlefield and fight at the same time. A winner is chosen based on total score.
  • Team -- a new event, it is played much the same as the one-on-one event only using teams of robots.
    Teams that work together co-operatively are encouraged. (i.e. "ganging up" on a single target.)

  • Awards -- Previous awards have included: 1st/2nd/3rd place One-on-one, 1st/2nd/3rd place Free-For-All, Most Bullet Damage, Most Ramming Damage, Most Creative Strategy, Best Paint Job, and Best Victory Dance. Other similar awards may be given out. Awards will be given for the Team event.
